According to Gamasutra, Activision will take control of the NASCAR license with the upcoming release of NASCAR 11. The Sources close to the situation, have told Gamasutra that Eutechnix will develop and Activision will publish the next title in the long-running NASCAR franchise. which means that after years of association( since 1997) with NASCAR, Electronic Arts will be out.
As per an anonymous post on the EA Sports forums, citing some inside source,
NASCAR 2011 could hit stores two weeks before next year's Daytona 500, which is scheduled for Feb. 20. This gets us a start of sale date of Feb 6. Gamasutra could not confirm this report.
But credence to the above speculation, might had come much earlier, when following the early 2009 release of NASCAR Kart Racing, EA Sports had said that there are no plans right now for NASCAR from EA. Additional facts which give credebility to the speculation is Eutechnyx, currently working on driving MMO Auto Club Revolution, hiring away EA Sports NASCAR veteran Ed Martin back in March.
Eutechnyx, the company behind racing titles like Test Drive Le Mans, Big Mutha Truckers and SuperCar Challenge is having a great time afterall. It recently received a £6 million ($9.25 million) investment from Dutch VC firm Prime Technology Ventures.
